I have always enjoyed drawing and while growing up I often only had my imagination to entertain myself; spending many hours drawing and dreaming of weird and fantastical images.
At 18 I entered into higher education to study art and design. After completing a number of courses I left in 2004 with a degree in Imagemaking and Design.
I first picked up a tattoo machine in 2004 under experienced guidance and have endeavoured to study and apply myself to the medium of tattooing ever since.
The first studio I worked at as an apprentice, was for 14 months out of a North London tattoo studio. It was a great but disciplined start and ended short of me completing my apprentership.
I started work at Skins and Needles in 2009 and left in March 2020. I worked with some great people and was happy to be part of an awesome team. Being there gave me the opportunity to learn, grow and develop from a hungry apprentice to a professional tattooist. Working in a street shop I was constently challenged with a variety of work. Generally I tattooed anything that walked in provided I felt I could do a good job with it and make the customer happy. After over a decade at Skins & Needles I was ready for my next opportunity and challange.
I started at Dragons Forge Tattoo Studio in 2020. I am very happy to be working with the extremely talented Aidan in his beautiful studio. I now work on an appointment only basis as the studio is a private studio. The benefit of a private studio over a street shop is I can provide the customer with a more relaxed and focused working environment. The privacy allows me to focus on my customer without distractions and provide the best creative and tattoo experience I can produce.
To date, I have over 2 years combined experience as a studio apprentice and over 10 years experience as a professional registered tattooist.
I enjoy working with people from all walks of life and helping them with their ideas and designs no matter how bizarre.
I especially enjoy working with bold linework and realistic shading.
My favourite subjects are on the themes of Sci-
These get me the most excited and inspired.
Please get in touch if you would like to discuss any potential ideas you have for future tattoos with me.
Cheers, Rico :)
